Punk Rock Stories And Tabloid Tales - Climbing The Stairway To Heaven

Chapter Nine

"Climbing The Stairway To Heaven"

As previously admitted, I swindled my way into Journalism. I even blagged my way into the NUJ.

But to this day, getting my NUJ membership card is still one of my proudest achievements. I felt like a member of the SAS getting his red beret.

Punk Rock Stories And Tabloid Tales - Till Death Us Do Part

Chapter Eight

"Till Death Us Do Part"

Should gangster novels carry a Government Health Warning for their authors?

I wrote `Till Death Us Do Part` as Garry Jackson and got banged up in Bellmarsh top security prison.

Before me who was the last writer in the United Kingdom to be jailed for writing a book?
The answer is the genius that was Oscar Wilde.

My so-called crime?
I named the boyfriend of my ex-wife and revealed he was a former pimp and child-abuser.

I also had the lead character pump three bullets into his head.

He was slaughtered not on the streets of Wickford but in the pages of a book.

So why was I arrested.

If you want to know why THEN READ MY BOOK or get hold of a copy of Till Death Us Do Part.

                                                      "The Hounds Of Fleet Street"

I saw David Bowie on Top Of The Pops and it changed my life.

So much so - I hung up my football boots and picked up a guitar.

I became a failed singer, a decent poet and without doubt Fleet Street`s Number One scammer.

If you want to read all about how I got close-up and personal with Tabloid legends like Piers Morgan, John Blake, Rebekah Wade, Jane Moore, Garry Bushell, Andy Coulson, Nick Ferrari, Mathew Wright.

Made a decent living as a Tabloid Terrorist then READ MY BOOK.

                                                           "I Did It My Way"

The Garry Johnson story is a roller-coaster ride ( Southend, not Vegas) through the coke-fuelled world of rock stars, football, hooligans, soap actors, page 3 girls, gangsters, unlicensed boxers, family entertainers, corrupt judges, wannabee pop stars, strippers, blue comics, dreamers, porno films, nobodies and tabloid journalists.

Punk Rock Stories And Tabloid Tales - Talking Of Garry Bushell

                                                               Chapter Five

                                                      "Talking Of Garry Bushell"

I was a singer in a rock `n` roll band called The Buzz Kids. We looked great, but I couldn`t sing and the band couldn`t rock.

Garry Bushell witnessed our first and last gig in an East London pub. He gave us a verbal kicking and ended my career as a wannabee pop star - but that meeting resulted in me becoming a music writer at Sounds Magazine.

I also became a Punk Poet and then a Tabloid Terrorist.

Chapter 4

"When Johno Met Wacko Jacko"

My life was all about endless scams and getting away with murder. Some still make me smile and many make me laugh out loud.
I wonder if we have the same sense of humour?
Here are a few of my favourites.

My meeting with World superstar Michael Jackson during a private tour of Madame Tussauds.

I went along as special guest of my friend Pat Stead who was Wacko`s Head of Press in the UK.

She introduced me to the pop legend.

I said "Hello" and welcomed him to London, he smiled and whispered a reply I couldn`t actually hear.
But I turned that brief encounter into a in-depth interview.

Both he tabloids and Radio One called my story a WORLD EXCLUSIVE.

I claimed the Prince of Pop loved Eastenders, was a fan of pie `n` mash and wanted to watch West Ham play at Upton Park.
